Comix 2000, the reference work about wordless comics
Filed under: resources | by Hannes |A friend of Mine, Hannes Schaidraiter from Mixer Comics – Vienna, showed me this amazing book titled Comix 2000 by l’Associacion. It’s a huge (2000 pages) collection of wordless comics from all over the world put together by Jean-Christophe Menu, for a quick list of authors take a loot at this wikipedia page.
As far as I could find out, the book is out of print, and there’s no information about if it will be reprinted. If you have any information about this, or if you know here we could find some copies, let us know. I’d say this is really a must have for anybody working with wordless comics!

Yes, Comix 2000 is one of the best references for wordless comics. You may be interested in the early woodcut novels and wordless books by artists like Frans Masereel and Lynd Ward, which I cover in my book, Wordless Books: The Original Graphic Novels, which has been nominated for a Harvey Award this year.
Thanks for the info on the nowords comics convention…I’ll look into this.
thanks for the info!
I bought a rare copy of “Comix 2000″ in a comic shop in Zürich this year. It happened to be the last one in the shop so I was really lucky. I Couldn’t find it anywhere else, neither on the internet. However, you can try and borrow it via some libraries.
that’s a good idea! In fact I think I even know where they could have a copy now that you say it!
